Diarrhea : Stop it when you have a 24 hour cessation of diarrhea. Good Luck

STOP ASAP!: I really don't like giving kids this young medication that will "stop" their diarrhea. What it in reality is doing is paralyzing your gut so things slow down going through it. Unfortunately, this often then leads to nausea, vomiting, horrible appetite, etc. So you absolutely do NOT need to finish that bottle. As soon as he's getting better, or just right now even better, stop the medication.

Probiotic: Provide a children's probiotic daily until resolved. Adjust diet to avoid dairy products, include rice and bananas, and the symptoms should improve. Watch for blood and mucus in stool, fever and lethargy. Encourage clear fluids and children's electrolyte solution. Monitor temperature and treat fever. The medication may be stopped if these measures are improving the diarrhea. If not, see PCP.
