A member asked:

Does a stress echocardiogram show up coronary artery disease in all heart arteries?

Not exactly: Stress echo may show evidence of ischemia, teduced blood flow to areas of heart, indicated by ECG changes as well as wall motion changes of the heart during the test. These findings would prompt further investigation on suspicion of blockages in one or more coronary arteries that would be evaluated by angiography or CT angio to determine severity and treatment options if blockages confirmed.

Stress Echo: A Stress Echo is a treadmill based stress test with echo imaging added. The reason is to assess for coronary artery disease in any coronary artery. Abnormalities on stress echo concerning for CAD include: symptoms, ECG change, rhythm problem, drop in BP, or developing a wall motion problem on echo with stress. The location of wall motion problem can locate which artery is likely at risk.
