Why is ovulation so painful and should i see a gynaecologist?

Yes: Ovulation per se is not generally painful. There may be other issues that warrant an evaluation and it would be prudent to see a gynecologist. Wish you good health!

Ovulation pain ?'s: At 34, estrogen is produced at a higher level, and the drop in estrogen just prior to ovulation can cause emotional excess, spotting, and cramping. Endometriosis may accentuate the pain and cause other abdominal pain. See your gyn physician for an exam and use of oral contraceptive bcp's, which will stop ovulation and eliminate most of the pain. Ask about endometriosis as well.
