Normal aging: As we age, the areas of our body containing cartilage (ears, nose and joints) may reshape and sometimes enlarge. This represents the breakdown/reshaping of cartilage due to the aging process. In joints especially, the cartilage may begin to show wear and cause pain. Skin in these areas can also begin to thicken.
