My obgyn prescribed me ondansetron for nausea and vomiting. im 7 weeks pregnant and goggle is showing all sorts of defects associated with this drug. is it really safe to take?

Tough decision: Personally, I would avoid Zofran in the first trimester. Unfortunately, that's usually when you need it the most! We just don't know enough yet about possible birth defects with long term side effects to say it's safe in early pregnancy. If your nausea/vomiting is so severe you are dehydrated, you may not have a choice, on could try old school anti-nausea meds that are safer. GOOD LUCK!

A safer option?: Ginger root has been used for seasickness and could help. The one gram capsules could cause stomach burning but might help??
