A member asked:

Can adult chickenpox affect the uterus? about 5 years ago (age 27) i had a bad case of chickenpox (third in my life). for about 4 years, i have had debilitatingly painful periods and general pelvic pain. could this be related?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doubt it: Chickenpox lesions have been found on skin, the oral cavity & other mucus membranes including the external genitalia. I have never seen any report of a uterine effect. I would review this with your gynecologist. At your age I would expect endometriosis as the more likely cause among others.
