A member asked:

Hi. my two kids the oldest is having a dry cough also blocked up noise. the two year having a dry cough. my question is which medication should i use to both of them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No cough meds: There are NO GOOD cough medicines for toddlers. The studies very clearly show they don't work and have undesirable side effects. Try some honey in tea, warm showers and a humidifier. However, if the child is feeling bad because of fever, then acetaminophen and ibuprofen work equally as well. Cough medicines are really just a waste of money when it comes to the under 6 age group.
