A member asked:

How many years can staphylococcus aureus stay in the body and damage some systems in the body, if left untreated??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

In or on ?: The average person carries innocent/non-threatening staph germs on their skin & occasionally in their nose constantly. (years) If the invasive forms get into your blood you will likely die if not treated within days. Some invasive forms can form abscesses that remain localized for days/weeks. The actual strains of staph on body surfaces come & go depending on cahnce exposures.
