A member asked:

What's the average age at which an adult might start having more difficulty reading up close or need to wear reading glasses? are there any treatments for it and if so, how effective are they?

EYE EXAM: Your eyesight can change and you can look at genetics in your parents. The lens becomes less flexible with age and so not unusual someone may need help with reading and just use over the counter reading glasses. I am not sure there is a typical age and I do not think at 38 years old you are old but the changes could be taking place. I would recommend an eye exam at an optometrist.
