Probably not pregnan: hCG levels less than 5 mIU/ml indicate that there is no pregnancy. Normal increase in hCG varies between 25 mIU/mL and 7500 mIU/mL during the first 5 weeks. It differs in each pregnancy. The best test to use for detecting a pregnancy is the intravaginal ultrasound. No gestational sac indicates lack of a pregnancy. Low flow periods may be due to hormonal fluctuations.

HCG test positive ?: Any definite positive HCG test is confirming of pregnancy, however, early miscarriage can occur with a low positive HCG, and if the level does not rise in subsequent testing, a healthy pregnancy is unlikely.
