Good morning, my upper gums are badly swollen and painful. what should i do? seeing that most services are not available since it is a sunday, what type of medical assistance/doctor must i seek.

ER: The only place you can go to on Sunday would me the emergency room in a hospital. Meanwhile you could try to use some over the counter mouth wash or warm water and salt, and some pain killers such as Tylenol or some ant inflammatory meds such as Ibuprofen. You should be seen by a dentist any way to get a complete evaluation of your gums and get proper treatment. Hope you get better soon.

Dentist: The cause of the swelling has to be determined to be treated. Allergy, infection, traumatic insult? Physicians do not treat gum disease, Dentists do.
