Antibiotic treatment: It is true that overuse of antibiotics can cause various health problems in the long run. However, in the short run most antibiotics are quite harmless. Any infection requiring two antibiotics for that long undoubtedly is serious. Almost certainly the infection being treated is far more dangerous than the antibiotics. Discuss with his doctors, but don't worry in the meantime.

The alternative ?: On the one hand you seem to think antibiotics are bad & it is true in some cases problems can occur with improper use. On the other hand if he has an infection in the deep spaces of his ankle or the nearby bone it must be treated aggressively. If not, the infection can spread to the blood & be fatal.
