A member asked:

Hi ive been on my period since nov. 2 and this isnt the first time ive had long periods and everytime i went to a doctor about it they told me that they couldnt find anything wrong. so i dont know what to do at this point?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Long periods" ?'s: Extended bleeding, if pregnancy is possible, can occur secondary to a pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic). Obtain a serum HCG test to be certain of pregnancy. Other causes include fibroid tumors, intrauterine polyps, sustained estrogen thickening the lining of the uterus with breakthrough bleeding. See a GYN physician for other testing to ascertain the cause.
