A member asked:

I was diagnosed with ra a couple years ago. just did ife and pe serum and it is suggested an apparent polyclonal gammopathy. what is that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Active immune system: The part of blood that contains antibodies is gamma globulin. Polyclonal refers to the fact that many different antibodies are present. The increase in quantity reflects a broadly activated immune system cranking out lots of antibodies. This is common in autoimmune disease and is not a concern.
