Gynecologist: A one year period of unprotected sex will usually result in pregnancy. Three years is long enough and it is time to consult a gynecologist and may be a fertility specialist. Take prenatal vitamins. Wish you good health and a healthy baby.

Fertility ?'s: Long intervals between periods may be caused by delayed ovulation, caused by stress (school, emotional, work, etc.) or polycystic ovarian syndrome. The most frequent statistical cause of infertility (if your partner has a normal semen analysis) is blocked Fallopian tubes. See your gyn physician and ask about a hysterosalpingogram (HSG), and possibly a referral to reproductive endocrinology.
