A member asked:

Hi doctors! what does it mean when your bm goes "just to the end" of your rear and won't come out and you spend 20 minutes cleaning yourself out? is this serious? is it constipation? how is/should it be treated? is it worse than not have a bm at all?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Constipation: If your bowel function is regular, the stool normal in consistency and you get the urge for a BM, I wouldn't consider this constipation but rather diminished rectal muscle tone making expulsion of stool sluggish. Inserting a rectal glycerin suppository should help. You could also insert a dulcolax rectal suppository or insert a fleet's enema to evacuate the rectal contents. ?Take a bowel softener
