A member asked:

Im 14 wks pregnant. i got into a huge car accident. went to the hospital, baby and placenta looks intact. everything looks fine. does the chance of placenta abruption increase now that i was in a accident?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Abruption/pregnant ?: Placental abruption can occur with high blood pressure, abnormal location in the uterus, but if trauma occurs, if no bleeding occurs immediately thereafter, the chances of placental abruption are minimal from the accident, but later causes of abruption can occur not related to the accident.
