Well..: Hmm. If you have an unstable neck- manipulation could cause unintentional harm. My neck was accidentally injured by a friend who is an osteopath who was doing a high velocity manipulation. Unfortunately it has had long lasting effects. However, chiropractics can often do wonders for misaligned necks and spines.

Yes: Chiropractors have been taught to do a deep thrust type of massage which carries some risk. In my opinion, a chiropractor should never , ever touch anyones neck. Their massage on the t and l spines which are tough enough to avoid injury probably are fine. Chiropractors operate under a totally discredited theory of disease origin; it is best to see a physical therapist or physiatrist.

Why would you go?: Are you havin pain? Musculoskeletal problems can give you neck pain (strain, joints, arthritis, pinched nerve). A disc bulge can be minor or serious. Why would you go to a chiro ? Best to see an md who can help you isolate the cause and arrive at a solution. In the mean time, stretch, heat, relaxation may help. Ask yourself...is the 'cracking' doing anything for you ???
