Im on predisone and took my first pill today. its 20 mg. i noticed i gained two pounds after taking it. does it cause water retention or is it something else? im new to it and didnt know if could contribute to weight gain. im on it for a week?

WATER RETENTION: Yes there can be water retention with prednisone as well as increase in appetite with steroids. I am not sure what happens after just 1 dose but 20mg is a significant dose. Can discuss concern with the doctor that prescribed.
