What would cause inflammation in fat on a ct scan? my 63 y/o mom has had severe pain on & off on the side of her abdomen. ct scan was looking for kidney stones- none were found. dr wants her to see surgeon & get ultrasound. what would cause this?

Mesenteritis (rare): There is an entity termed mesenteritis which could cause this. However, there are many other possibilities which must be considered based upon a methodical evaluation by a GI specialist, a surgeon or other experienced physician.

I had a abdomen ct scan performed for kidney stones and a relative change in sigmoid caliber was noted, with no evidence of mass lesion. A follow up colonoscopy was recommended which did not reveal any findings. Are there common explanations/causes?
Dull pain (stitch) in right side under rib cage thru to back & into tummy. CT scan & blood test for kidneys (history of stones) showed nothing. Next?
