A member asked:

How much caffeine can i consume before it starts to affect my nursing baby? she is three months old and exclusively breastfed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Basic rule: Caffeine is not tolerated well by newborns or premi's but by 3 mo you can readily consume a standard cup of coffee every 6-8 hrs without making them too jittery/crabby. It does pass through the BM but their system is mature enough to metabolize & remove it from their body well.
