A member asked:

My son has a dry area in his nose that seems to keep coming back... he usually use ayr saline nasal gel, and it goes away, but weeks later it will come back... does he have sjogrens syndrome... he has no other symptoms, but i'm worried?

No: One cannot make a diagnosis of any rheumatic disease because of dryness in the nose. His problem is most likely an allergy, or sinus irritation. The treatment you described is perfect because it resolves the symptoms, and should have no adverse side effects. If your family has a first generation history of rheumatoid diseases, he may be at risk, but this symptom is not a diagnosis.
