A member asked:

My daughter sucks her fingers. shes 32 months old. how do i keep her from sucking them as she ends up not eating her food ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually unrelated: Many little kids suck thumbs. Some suck fingers. Whether they eat their food or not is unrelated to the thumbs or fingers they suck, because thumbs and fingers don't provide nutritious calories. Therefore, if they are hungry, the sucking does not remove the hunger, and thus they will still eat and grow. Normal little kids who suck do grow up to be normal big kids.
