Take all 28 pills.: Oral contraceptives should be used only as directed. It is important to take all 28 pills. During the inactive pills, your natural hormones are triggered to cause sloughing off of the uterine lining. If you do not take the inactive pills, the hormone in the active pills prevents the normal cycle from happening. Continue taking all 28 pills and your menstrual cycle should return in 2-3 months.
