See your Dr.: Ticks in California have been shown to transmit a variety of illnesses including Lyme Disease, Tick Borne Relapsing Fever and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Prevention is the best defense, but once you have been bitten, you should seek medical attention so that they can address any tick related illnesses. Prophylaxis with prescription antibiotics can help to prevent full blown infections.
