Often...: ....A three month old will grunt, cry, strain, and turn red while having a bm. Then the bm is soft when it comes out. This baby is not constipated; his muscles are learning to push out the poop. If the poop comes out very hard or in little pellets, he is constipated. Try giving one ounce of water once or twice daily to help soften the poop. Don't give more without your doctor's advice.
