Change antibiotic: The FDA took furazolidone off the market in the United States. Combining it with amitriptyline scores an X rating on drug interaction scales due to its MAOI properties causing a potentially fatal serotonin syndrome . Safer antibiotics are available for H Pylori and increasing controversy about whether H. Pylori needs to be treated at all as it may well be a natural component of healthy gut flora
