Antidepressant combination is it ok to take celaxa 20mg and 150mg of amitriptyline at a time? my doctor prescribed this and said to take the celexa in the morning and the amitriptyline at night because it will help me sleep. i also take lunesta that help

Hello. : Hello. The Amitriptyline is an older type of antidepressant called tricyclic antidepressants. Amitriptyline is not very good for depression because you would get a ton of side effects before you reached an effective dose. However, Amitriptyline has the side effect of being very sedating, so it often used for this. The Celexa (citalopram) is a newer type of antidepressant medication called a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. It is used for depression, ptsd, anxiety etc. Yes, it is alright to mix Amitriptyline to celexa (citalopram). Good luck with your new regimen.
