Ear infection : This is likely an ear infection. Most ear infections respond favorably to oral antibiotics. Because his face is swollen this could be more than an ear infection such as teeth or jaw infections which can cause swelling. I would highly recommend seeing a physician in person to have him evaluated. Oral antibiotics may be prescribed. In the meantime, take Motrin or Tylenol for pain.

Strep A infection?: The streptococcus bacteria produces a toxin that can cause erythema, swelling, and redness. Suggest an antibiotic for strep and get a throat culture to confirm this before treating
