A member asked:

Is it safe for a 92 year old with a recent ischemic stroke, bp 177/75, junctional hr, mostly sleeping to have a peg insertion procedure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, safe : The procedure is a ‘simple’ one which can be performed quickly with low risk of problem. For a temporary placement, it can done through the abdominal wall without general anesthesia. More typically, a general is used, Scope is passed to verify location, then a quick placement of tube performed and affixed to the abdominal wall and stomach, and scope withdrawn. Very safe procedure, and worthwhile.
