Gonorrhea treatment: The standard treatment for gonorrhea -- ceftriaone 250 mg by injection plus either azithromycin (single dose) or doxycycline (for 7 days) is virtually 100% effective. It is recommended that all persons get retested after ~3 months, mostly to check for reinfection -- but that's obviously lower priority for people who have no sex after treatment. However, other treatments are less reliable.
