Pancreatitis: Yes. Your blood protein level may go down, causing the swelling. Many other causes as well. Get seen by a gastroenterologist asap.

Kinda: Pancreatitis can be severe. There is no specific magic bullet rx. Central to rx is fluid replacement. Ipancreatitis can cause multiorgan system failure; acute kidney failure (fluid retention), heart failure (fluid retention), clotting problems, lung inflammation, infection, systemic inflammatory response syndrome- fluid retention. All can lead to swelling, which improves if pancreas improves.
