No: Babies need to grow and to do that they need calories. If you give your baby water then they don't get the calories that they need to grow. Furthermore, water lacks important salts necessary to maintain the salt concentration of the blood. Babies who are fed water are at risk of having seizures. Rarely, a physician might prescribe water but do this only under the care of your doctor.

Yes....but..: An infant that age gets all the fluid they need in breast milk or formula. Supplemental water is not needed. However, I do support an occasional offering (1-2 oz) as a way for in-laws/best friends to participate in the bonding experience,
