A member asked:

Can a neck ultrasound detect drainage from the ear? if something is found, is it serious? i went to the ent and he did not feel anything. requested a neck ultrasound just in case?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ear drainage: Drainage either in the ear or behind the ear drum is best evaluated by a tympanogram in the office and then if an image is needed, usually a CT scan of the area would be better than an ultrasound. This is usually from allergy or some fluid build up behind the ear drum.
