I have a round birthmarth about 1.5cm in diameter. i think they call it a 'cmn' type. i've just found a hard lump under it which is sore to touch.

Show it to a skin-sp: If the birth mark is black or brown, then you have to be alert that a melanoma can arise from a birthmark.You should have ite xamined by your doctor and preferbaly see a skin specilaist (dermatologist). Any lump associated with a black mole/birth mark needs to be biopsied to rule out melanoma.
