A member asked:

I compete in wrestling. sometimes, i can get small cuts, scratches and friction burns, and so can my training partner. occasionally, these can bleed. if someones blood got into a small scratch or cut during training, could this possibly transmit hiv?

Very low risk: Any risk for HIV in this circumstance is theoretical with little actual risk. Conceivably transmission could occur if you wrestle an infected opponent. However, there have been few no reported cases of HIV transmission by wrestling (or any other athletic contact) in the 3+ decades of the known worldwide HIV/AIDS epidemic, so obviously the actual risk is exceedingly low. Don't worry about it.
