Would anyone know how to equalize the sedative and cogntive function reduction side-effect of quetiapine (seroquel)?

Ask Dr: For most people, the most effective method to achieve it is a reduction of the dose; but you should clearly not try that until your Dr approves it. To lower the dose could cause a dangerous exacerbation of symptoms. That is why you should ask your Dr if in your case such a decrease is acceptable.

careful titration: The dose is titrated with involvement by patient and provider. Monitor side effects and effectiveness of medication with each chane in dose.
