Pap Smear/ HPV test: A Pap Smear is a test that looks at the cell types in your cervix and vagina to detect abnormal/cancerous cells. Testing for HPV is separate. Unfortunately HPV can exist in your body for years after the symptoms are gone. At your annual exam, ask your Dr to test for HPV. If you are no longer sexually active your risk decreases. Once exposed to HPV, the vaccine is no longer useful.
