Why is it the ppi i take makes my poop smell bad?

Unrelated: The smell of your poop is related to the off-gassing of the many types of bacteria in your gut, not a PPI. Any diet change or other foods you may have added are the most likely culprit. A trial of some probiotic capsules can change your gut germs enough to change the odor issue.

Diet change: Agree with 1st answer, but stop onion and garlic seasoned foods, and start taking chlorophyll tablets which can help ‘sweeten’,the GI contents and control this odor as well.

Action of colonic ba: I wonder you have taken PPI for awhile and have developed loose stool. One of the side effects of PPI is allowing overgrowth of colonic bacterium known as Clostridium difficile leading to smelly loose stool to diarrhea.
