Cricks are common: There are various forms of neck pain after sleep such as typical muscle spams and/or stiffness, sometimes called "cricks". There are other more serious causes. Start with gentle multi-directional stretches, hot shower/heat, and massage. Unless advised otherwise, try over the counter anti-inflammatories.
