Hi, my wife took estradiol 2mg tablet twice a day at 5th week of pregnancy for 9 days without knowing that she was pregnant. later we came to know that this tablet is not safe during pregnancy. is it affect baby and cause any birth defects?

Not to worry.: While Estradiol falls into category X and Estradiol should not be used during pregnancy. There appears to be little or no increased risk of birth defects in children born to women who inadvertently used estrogens during early pregnancy. Make sure your OB Dr knows about the exposure. Imaging and tests throughout the pregnancy can monitor the development of the fetus.
