A member asked:

I had a wisdom tooth extraction (tooth #18). i am now about 75 hours post extraction. the white clot (or piece of it?) dislodged and i spit it out. i can't see in the mirror if there is other material left. no pain. could i have dry socket sans pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dry socket: Caused when clot washes out prematurely leaving bone exposed to oral bacteria. It is quite painful. Usually accompanied by foul odor, bad taste, malaise, fever. If you are con corned, call your treating Dentist or Oral Surgeon and report your situation.
