A member asked:

I have a newborn and suspect she has jaundice because her eyes are a yellowish colour. this only came on today. what must we do? can we do treat at home?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Transient jaundice will occur in many newborns & for most will self resolve. However, for some it represents the backup of toxic material in their blood that can damage various tissues & or represents an excessive breakdown of their blood. I would contact the kids doc & discuss the matter. Further review of the kids status may fine the need for testing.
