Disgnosed positive e.histolytica from 2 weeks took metronidazole three times a day for 10 days the symptoms went but after 5 days of stopping it the symptoms came back. now dr wrote ciprofloxacin 1g for 1 week, tinidazole 2 g 5 weeks. is this normal?

Is truly E histolyti: Metronidazole is usually adequate for E histolytica sometimes duration may need to be longer. You did not say how the diagnosis was made and the site of infection. Your doctor may be the best person to ask questions when you are concerned. Is it possible the MD thought there is possibility of something else causing the symptoms?
