A friend had taken yasmin pills as emergency contraception. 4 pills first dose and after 10 hours 4 more pills. however, 5 hours after the second dose, she vomited. will this reduce the efficacy of the ec? ec are banned in the region i am in.

It should not: nausea is a common side effect of estrogen in high dose. If she vomited immediately the dose should be repeated however 5 hours is enough to get systemic absorption, and the vomiting is likely a symptom of that. That said EC effectiveness is not 100 % and decreases significantly 48-72 hours after unprotected intercourse although it may be effective up to 5 days.
