HSV-2 comes and goes: Herpes virus can be sexually transmitted ,but usually when it is overt ( out in the open). Your partner will probably know when that occurs, as these lesions are often painful, prior to expression on the skin and that is the highest risk time of transmission. Condoms don't always provide adequate protection as it can still be acquired from the vulva to the scrotum. No symptoms now, no problem yet.

Highly likely: The virus is often transmitted without symptoms. Fortunately, the virus can be treated during a period of viral activity and a medication can be taken daily to prevent viral replication.
