A member asked:

When i leave a urine dipstick test for leukocytes for the recommended 2 minutes it is negative, but if i leave it for longer and then check it is showing leukocytes in urine. why is that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dip sticks: Urine dipsticks can test for several entities including protein, sugar, nitrates, urobilinigen, and the results are unreliable if the reading is done after the designated time frames as the chemical reagents degrade or overreact to urine that's too long on the strip.
