COVID False Negative: Scientists from Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, reported in June that as many as 1 in 5 RT-PCR tests for the coronavirus may produce false negatives (20%), incorrectly informing a patient that they do not have a SARS-CoV-2 infection when they actually do.

COVID 19: Average incubation period for COVID-19 is 2 to14 days (but as little as 1 day), median time is 4-5 days. You have more chance of having an accurate test result if you have symptoms or you wait at least a few days after COVID 19 contact. It you test too early, an early infection may not get picked up.
