A member asked:

My 16 year old daughter has been experiencing blood clots in her stools..what can it be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Basics: Bright red blood coating the outside of stool or clots that are bright red come from near/at the outlet. Hard/bulky or rapidly exiting poop can scratch/tear a fissure at the outlet. The darker/purpler blood would represent coming from higher up. A simple anal exam can confirm a fissure. Higher up issues involve more extensive study.
