Menorrhagia: Menorrhagia, or heavy menstrual bleeding, can be due to several problems but one of the most common is a form of hemophilia known as von willebrand disease. It is very important that she be seen by a pediatric gynecologist to rule out any anatomical problems, and then a pediatric hematologist to rule out bleeding problems. I also recommend a daily iron tablet to my patients to prevent anemia.
